Quirks

  • When feeling his head tied he can spook.  History of pulling poles out of the ground (before he was mine)
  • Has a tendency to crowd your space if allowed
  • Bucks under saddle
  • Sometimes he pulls on his bit
  • Gets visibly agitated when you ask him to do something he is not pleased with under saddle
  • Can be defiant
  • Using flag when doing ground work under saddle has been a little stressful for him, more so under western saddle.
  • Initially when we saddled him with a western saddle, and started flag groundwork with him, he bucked so hard he looked like a baby saddled up for the first time.
  • As soon as he is totally comfortable with an exercise he tends to be more defiant and will test you
  • When saddled, and doing groundwork exercises he can become spooked by flag more easily and tries to run away. Flight characteristic very apparent under saddle.
  • Girthy
  • Stiffens neck when agitated
  • Under saddle he bucks before you have a chance to bend him to prevent it.
  • Doesn’t trust me in all situations yet
